Well - Christmas is behind us &

the New Year is almost here. I am really looking forward to 2010. Feels like you can sort of wipe the slate clean and start over. I need that this year!

Just finished up dinner... back to eating healthy again. Had some fun with baking and lots of cookies and candies but that is all over. The fun can only last so long. I also finally finished my James from Twilight repaint.

I was almost done with him before the holidays but I just needed to take a little break so today I felt fresh when I finished him up. Talk about a great sculpt. I do hope they use him again in their line - I love his features. So many Tonner dolls to choose from now - I am like a kid in the candy store.

I need to order the new Simon soon - he looks like another great male and I am looking forward to painting him.

Here is a picture of James... happy holidays everyone!!!!

Oh - I almost forgot about my Ghost of Jimmy Angelov inspired by Goran Visnjic as he appeared in Practical Magic.

Happy Holidays!

Yikes! I get so caught up in what I am doing that I totally forget about the internet. Happy Holidays everyone!

Roxy and I have been baking and making candy. We also decided to try to make gingerbread houses from scratch! It wasn't as hard as you would thing. They are so cute. One isn't finished but we have been super busy!

New doll tonight on eBay!

Every so often I have to paint an Ellowyne. Here she is inspired by Britney Spears. Hope you like her.

I got a new Kindle today (a gift for Christmas that I LOVE) and I am having a hard time ignoring it. Yikes! It is just so cool and highly recommended if you like to read.

Not sure what I will get done today.

I need to work though - no Saturday off. I can rest tomorrow. It is almost Christmas! Yikes. I will finish one of the many commissions I have here. I did manage to complete this one. Her name is Callie and she was created out of a Twilight Victoria doll as a portrait repaint of a girl. Her own little Minime.

These two...

are recent pictures sent to me of the new owner's dolls. I loved the pictures and wanted to share them!

One is of Nebula and the other Arctica!

Hello!!!

Well - I have a few pictures to share. These are pictures of dolls when they get to their new home. One is of the Underworld girls. I created the blonde, Selene (brunette) and the newest brunette added was Sonja. Dalia's Dolls created some of these terrific costumes. A redhead will be added to the mix to make my part complete. You can click on the picture to see it bigger.

Oh my - when I get an idea in my head....

On Regis & Kelly they were making this really cool dish and Kelly swore you would like brussel sprouts if you made it. So I am all about new recipes and something that sounds cool. I had to chop up a pound of butternut squash which is HARD to do and a pound of brussel sprouts. That wasn't to bad. I had to roast chestnuts and then shell and peel them - OUCH! After the butternut squash my hands are a mess. It took over an hour to put this together. I will post the recipe if I like it. I am skeptical but hopefully after all that work it will be delicious.

I did some shipping today and mostly finished up a commission. I am very proud of how the commission came out and will share when I take pictures. Yesterday I put an AG doll for Jason Wu in my sales room... she is painted like Angelina Jolie. Here are the pictures.

Started walking on Friday...

but we went out to the hiking path this morning and it was closed! Then I remembered this other nature trail that I always see on the way to the big one. We tried there and found it was a little place for seniors to walk and had little exercise machines along the way. We actually had fun doing them. They weren't very hard but had good stretches, step ups, standing push ups. I liked it. We did take a nature walk too but ended up in the woods and actually found a shack someone might be occupying! Sort of scared us so we headed out of there real quick! Yikes!

Getting ready to start my day but wanted to share a few pictures from ICE finally! I remembered FINALLY to ask Steve J. Here are a few. One is a picture of Christmas trees leading in but I slipped and I thought it looked cool.

Getting my feet wet...

with Zazzle... I have created a coffee mug so far. It is really fun but a lot of work. I have to edit so many pictures! : ) But I did one cup as a practice run. Here is the embedding.

Forgot the pictures!

A new Repaint from me tonight!

I love that Tonner brought Mei Li back. This doll is so lovely. I believe she is sold out now but I won't swear by it.

I named her Nao and was inspired purely by the sculpt itself.

Not much to report over the last several days. I had a little cold which slowed things down around here. But I managed to keep the house clean though and I feel much better after resting.

I think Mei Li is sold already. : ) Happy Tuesday night!

Three things done!

Well so far Roxy and I made the sweet potato casserole and the cheese balls. Yummy! And then her friend who is like a second child to me came over and helped with the pecan pie. We are taking a break from the kitchen right now but we are going to be making the green bean casserole next and then the pumpkin pie! That should do it for tonight unless I think of something else. : )

I didn't show this doll yet! She is Sonja from Underworld - Rise of the Lycans.

I am seriously considering redressing my dolls for the holidays. Hum...

Here is my Edward Cullen repaint!!

Well I have been super busy getting ready for the holidays, doing a lot of shipping, and finishing up commissions. I finally completed my first Edward Cullen. I saw New Moon this past Saturday and I just loved it. Hope you like the doll!

New Twilight Victoria!

She will be available for auction starting tonight at 9PM Est... Roxy and I tried our hand at video making because I always think the dolls look better in person. Our video is terrible! LOL But we will try again later. We are super hungry for dinner!

Ice was fun!

Yesterday Roxy and I went to see Ice at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando. The Gaylord Palms is ridiculously beautiful... we drove up, parked and walked through the doors to experience winter in Florida.

There are plenty of picture opportunities as you step inside the first room which is roughly the size of a ballroom with enormous ornaments hang from the triple high ceilings. To your right you will find a typical mall Santa set up to have your kid’s pictures taken on Santa's lap. There is also a large, glassed in snow scape with a train set. The kids will enjoy looking at this, I know I did.

At the end of the room there are two entrances. On the right is the Ice gift shop and the left is Ice itself. As you enter the Ice entrance someone helps you choose a parka to keep you warm. Unfortunately someone forgot to add pockets to the parka. On second though, it may have been intentional. Can you imagine how many things would be forgotten in the pockets? However, I love pockets and missed them. I might bring gloves next year.

As you round the corner snuggled up in your blue parka you are asked to step in front of a blue screen to have your picture taken, another money spending opportunity which we declined and passed right on by. Finally the doors are opened for you and you step inside.

The first room surrounds you in ice. The ice sculpture before you is of old man winter and on either side are carvings of children playing in the ice. Everything is huge and as I try to take a picture I look over at Roxanne and mention something about it being colder than last year. If is freezing in here!

Room after room is a delight as we encountered ice sculptures of polar bears, a camp fire with children playing, and plenty of landscaping. There are ice arches, spiky ice hallways, an entire room dedicated to ice ornaments, gorgeous ice angels, and more. We finally enter a room with a full sized ice carousal. Horses with people riding them all carved to perfection in ice. They also included little seats so you could hop up there and take some pictures. In fact, they give you a lot of places to stop and take pictures at with little cushion seats which makes it nice. I took a lot of pictures but I was freezing!

Another room had a full nativity set which is just amazing to look at and the next room a full scale slide for children (and adults) surrounded by Santa's reindeer. We opted out of sliding and instead enjoyed the artistry of the sculptures.

Ice was over before we knew it. If you walk slowly and really look at everything it takes about 15 minutes to see it all. We could go a little slower I suppose but it was so COLD! They have to keep that ice frozen but Roxy and I could hardly feel our faces any more. I took plenty of pictures which I will share on Sunday.

As you leave Ice you are directed to turn in your parka and look at that picture you took on the way in. Finally you are deposited into the gift shop for more spending opportunities! Of course we purchased several ornaments for our tree to remember our experience by, a tradition we started last year. After that you are directed back into the resort where you follow signs to some free hot cocoa.

Last year was our first year of seeing Ice. We decided to do it again this year because it was just so cool (literally). Pros are that you are not likely to see anything like it. It is truly beautiful and amazing at the same time. Lots of chances for pictures and it is so cold. Cons are it is expensive. With an $18.99 price ticket plus $12.00 parking and all of the spending opportunities Ice can cost you quite a bit for only an hour of your time. That would include stopping for everything and taking your time in the gift shop. But there is the free hot cocoa!

Of course we followed the signs but instead of enjoying our hot cocoa (it was in the 80s yesterday in Florida) we took a little tour of the resort again. There are plenty of shops, a gorgeous man made nature walk with coy ponds, a real boat, and actual glassed in wildlife. In the center of it all a giant Christmas tree. This part of the resort is called the atrium because it has a fully domed, glass ceiling. Last year we were here in the day but this year we saw it in the evening so it was pretty neat to see it in two different ways.

Will we do Ice again next year? Probably.

About to leave for Ice!

Really looking forward to seeing Ice this year. I posted a little video about it down below. If I can I will take pictures while we are there. I don't have a small camera so I will have to do it with my phone. Maybe I can get someone (hint hint) to help me upload them onto my computer.

Anyway - gotta finish getting ready!

Monday, November 16, 2009

Good morning!

I have been super busy over the last couple of days getting my home ready for holiday company. I even - dare I say it - put up my Christmas tree. I have never done that before Thanksgiving but so what! It looks so pretty. I will have to take some pictures.

I did take pictures of my office/studio. I spend so much time in here organizing. Look at all the dolls I have just in this room! Some are mine but many are to be painted.

It is time for me to go and paint but I wanted to say thanks to Steve J! And to Roxy - I had so much fun with you decorating the tree - thank you!

Okay - gotta go!

Happy Thursday!

So my doggie decided to get up a little earlier than I am use to but at least I got a shower in and I am wide awake now. I can always rest later on. I can hear the H.S. band practicing this morning. It is 60 degrees so I opened my kitchen window for some fresh air.

I don't think we are keeping this weather long so I am going to enjoy it as much as I can. It has been a super hot, record breaking heat wave fall! Wahhhh My favorite time of the year too. : (

My schedule is a little off this week so I am not sure which doll to finish up today. I think it will be an auction doll. Hopefully tomorrow I will be finished with two commission dolls. They are so close!

Better go get busy! : )

Now what did I do today...

First off I finished another commission face. That means I have two dolls that still need their hair and body work but I am feeling pretty good about it! I will take a lot of pictures soon and show them off. One is Sonja from Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and Dalia's Dolls made the most amazing outfit! I am so lucky to be able to photograph this doll in her perfect little costume. Can't wait to share!

I managed to prepare super health food for the 3rd day in a row. I have been playing with fresh herbs to get all of the flavor and it really works. I am also buying fresh and less so I won't waste anything.

Oh yeah - and I started Resident Evil 4 over again from the beginning. No big guns... starting from scratch. I never thought in a million years I would ever really enjoy a video game but Wii changed my mind. Love it!

This game took several weeks for me to finish the first time around. But then I got all of these big machine guns and it was much easier. Then it got boring so that is why I am doing it over again.

Darn SNL - they took my video down. Oh well...

What is everyone looking forward to? I have a few things I am looking forward to.

ICE at the Gaylord Palms

Seeing New Moon!!!

Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights at Disney

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal will be opening in the Spring of 2010

Just a few things that are coming up that I can hardly wait for!!!

Finished up a face today..

on a commissioned doll. She is a Honey Antoinette which I think may be my favorite skin tones of the Antoinettes. I like Spice too. They are all good I just especially love Honey. Tomorrow I will be working on another commission and I just looked at my Google Calendar and noticed which doll I will be working on and I haven't finished that reroot! So I am going to finish that up tonight.

Been watching QVC! I know - I should stay away but it reminds me that Christmas is only 44 days away and puts me in the spirit. After all - I will be decorating the tree in a couple of weeks! WOW - I love pulling out my ornaments that I have collected for over 20 years now. It just makes them special.. I remember mostly where I got them or who gave them to me.

Now that I know I need to reroot I am going to do it right now. It is almost done but not quite yet. Glad I saw that on my calendar!

I had to post this! Too cute!

I am a big Taylor Swift fan and I just have to share this. This was from Saturday Night when she hosted SNL.

Well - it is November already...

In Florida we had record breaking highs over the month of October. It was so hot here. It is still warm but now we will be getting rain from that hurricane. Rain is fine but always hoping for a cold front. When it comes to this time of year I really look forward to cooler weather. So far we have had a couple of cool days and that is it. Wahhh

I scheduled out my entire month so I could get those commissions completed before the New Year! It will be 2010 very soon. What happened to 2009? Christmas is in 44 days! And no - I am not ready. Though I do buy all of my Christmas paper on sale after Christmas so I am set there.

I didn't post my Dorothy I finished yesterday. I am going to repaint the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Lion too and will have those available later on. Hoping to breath life into them. They are so very cool.

Guess I had better go eat some breakfast and get this ball rolling.

Happy Tuesday!!!!!!!!!!! LL

So I woke up late...

dang it! I forgot to set my alarm and just slept my morning away. I guess I needed it. But now I don't feel like playing with my two dolls. I want to start early on them. Instead I think I will do the house cleaning today and finish up the dolls tomorrow.

I will work better in a cleaner environment anyway!

So off to get Roxy up, eat something, and then clean clean clean!!!

Check out my newest inspiration. I want to do some kind of evil mermaid and I found this picture which is very close to what I have been thinking - not exactly but close...

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

Ohhh - someone forgot about her blog!

I have been rather caught up in creating and completely forgot to update. Right now I am working on two dolls. One is from the Graveyard Vampire painting and she should be completed tomorrow. The other is an Antoinette and also should be finished tomorrow. Both have fashions.

I still have quite a few commissions to complete so I will be working on those next week only once these two dolls are finished. I have so many ideas and things that are coming up! I am really excited about taking repainting so much further with my creativity and making dolls that are truly unique and one of a kind.

The house has suffered however. Yikes! I plan on cleaning Friday. I have a lot of organizing I want to get done before the holidays. I never decorated for Halloween (sadly) and I didn't get one trick or treater.

Roxy and her best buddy, Misa did get dressed up for a party. I am posting a picture. I loved their costumes! Roxy is wearing the pink wig.

I am super tired so I am off to bed. Night!

Last night for Halloween Horror Nights!

Well - this is the last night for me. It is the night Roxy and I go with friends and we have express passes so we will see everything with no lines! Never did get to ride the big roller coaster. It is closed for the event but next year I will brave it.

Yesterday I finished up my ice princess arctic wolf doll and named her Arctica. She is available on my website for presale. She was a fun project.

The next few days will be pretty busy for me. Today we are going to Universal, tomorrow to the mall to finish up last minute shopping for Roxy's Halloween costume, Friday will be finishing up costumes too, and Saturday it will take me all day to get both girls ready for the party. I don't think I am going to move much on Sunday.

I realized that Halloween is Saturday and I still have some dolls I haven't finished so I guess we will have a few more fun, scary dolls anyway. I still have my Graveyard Vampire.. and a few others!

Here is a picture of Arctica! And a picture of a commission I just completed... John Paul Gaultier!

New ghost doll!

I just love this one! I hope you will too... she is such a little art doll and truly and one of a kind. : )

She was a Batgirl sculpt that I transformed into a ghost bride. There is a little story on her page. Here is the link to all of her pictures.

http://laurieleighart.com/kitsi.htm

Her name isn't kitsi though - it is Alabaster.

Roxy and I have been working together to create dolls. She is getting more into the fun side of things and giving me great ideas! Her collaborative efforts will be fun to show off soon!

I am about to take a nice break. I am pooped! I am hungry too and need to figure out dinner. : ) Night!

Friday, October 16, 2009

Hiho!

This morning I got up and went out to the yard sales. There wasn't a lot for a girl like me. I was mostly looking for things for the dolls. However, I did find some goodies and even a couple of Halloween costume pieces for Roxy.

I found a pair of wicker chairs for the dolls. They like them very much... I am going to paint one black.

I found some fun pieces of jewelry that will work well with dolls.

The pickings were slim all in all but I did manage to find some goodies and that was fun.

I didn't work on dolls today so tomorrow bright and early I will be up working away... probably finishing up a commission - or getting close to finishing it. Maybe two! I have several that are so close to being done.

Here is a 2008 doll I did inspired by the movie Blade Runner - this is Pris.

Off to bed!

OMG - I just did an entire post and lost it somehow! WAHHHH

Now I have to recap it because I want to go to bed.

Tomorrow I am going to yard sales... looking for goodies for my dolls. Love yard sales and I haven't been in ages.

Discovered my commission list is much longer than I thought. Yikes! Working overtime for certain.

I completed a vampire today. Check out those little teeth!

NIGHT!

For shame!

Roxy had to remind me that I haven't posted on my blog! Whoopsies! Is that a word? Well - I have been working on dolls - mainly commissions. I want to finish all of my current commissions before Christmas... I think I mentioned that before. Which means that my commission book is currently closed. Can't finish them if I keep adding to them. : )

I am working on a really cool commission of Jean Paul Gaultier and he is coming out so great! I really can't wait to show him off. As I work on him I sit back and clap my hands at how great he is turning out! Yay!

Let's see... I still have my victim available on eBay and who knows what else is coming down the line. I have a new idea every day... gotta stay focused.

Here is a picture of my victim. She is running from the vampire who left those bite marks on her neck!

My blog!

I haven't updated in a couple of days. Haven't had much to say... I have too many dolls going at once and no one is getting finished! I think I will go to bed right now so I can get up early and get a move on! Geez.... I did wash all of the clothes today. There is that. : ) And I do have some fun stuff coming up - there is that too!

Right now though - I think it is best if I go to bed and get some real rest.

Night all!

Here is a Halloween Doll I did a while back - Morticia was created out of a Cinderella sculpt in 2007.

Friday, October 9, 2009

Sooo - I didn't go to...

Halloween Horror Nights last night so yesterday I didn't accomplish much of anything. Sigh... but I have ALL day today and I had better get to it. I have things to do!

Look for several fun dolls from me. Today - a vampire victim!

A Ghost Bride (not the Tim Burton one)
Kandee - you will see
Graveyard Vampire - inspired by this painting I did.

Hope you all have a WONDERFUL Friday!

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Am I ever being the quiet little blogger...

Well - in my defense I did give myself a nasty paper cut yesterday on the tip of my pointer finger - left hand a least. But you type with that one a lot! Or I do because I never learned how to type properly.

I have Halloween Dolls floating in my head. I need to get a little bit more organized so I can make them happen AND get some more sleep. There is a candy girl and a male vampire for certain... and who knows what. A ghost bride perhaps?

Gotta get a move on. Still sleeping in too late and it just sets me back. I know this! But I was pooped yesterday and today I feel SO much better and rested. Downing lots of coffee too. : )

Here is another picture of Mastema... hopefully I will have more to show later today or tomorrow! Hoping to finish up a commissioned gypsy man today!

And how it is Wednesday already?

Tuesday, October 6, 2009

Finished up a commission today...

AND I am about 80% done with another one. I am on a roll!

Here is a picture of a new Vampire girl. : ) Hope you like her. She was inspired by the Underworld series.

Now I plan of resting.. my work day is over. I am pooped!

Halloween Horror Nights again!

Had a great time last night. Got pretty scared too. It was darker and creepier this time. When you first enter into Universal Studios there are areas called Scare Zones that you have to pass through. I have a map so you can see the layout. It is a LOT of walking.

One of the Scare Zones is called Horrorwood and has characters from different scary movies walking around. Now imagine this - the Scare Zones are filled with fog machines and lighting effects so sometimes you can't see when you are walking through them. And then - the scary costumed people jump out at you or follow you. Yikes!

But in Horrorwood The Exorcist was there!!! Scared the crap out of me. She was all creeping around - eek! I just wanted to get away from that area. Not for me.
Last night we went to three new houses and back to The Wolfman. We skipped Leave it to Cleaver because Rox is not fond of chainsaws. We saw The Spawning which wasn't too bad. Also Chucky which wasn't very good at all. Just really strange and we loved the Silver Screams house. SO COOL!

On Sunday we go back to see the shows. Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Both are live and should be so much fun. Plus I think we will probably go back to the Saw House. The Saw House and The Wolfman are probably the two best houses. : )

I found a really good video of the Scare Zones... even the creepy Exorcist girl!!!

Thursday, October 1, 2009

Going to Halloween Horror Nights again...

tonight. Going to see some of the other houses we missed and just have fun. But we aren't leaving until much later today.

Got everything mailed out and I have started more commissions. Jason - I should have one for you on Friday all done! : )

Yesterday's doll!

This is Nebula... the second in the Halloween series. She is a vampire.

Wednesday, September 30, 2009

Oh - and had some fun with photography...

with Roxy helping.

Oh my! I haven't posted in several days!

Well - to be honest I have been working a lot. First I got caught up with all of my shipping. Steve burned a bunch of DVDs for me and then I burned even more so I have plenty and can just put them in the mailbox as the orders come it. Weee!!!!

I am finishing up a commission today. Thought I had finished it on Monday but then the client wanted more stuff (some that I forgot about - oops!) so I am finishing that up today. But I am showing a picture of her.

Yesterday I worked on a vampire since I was inspired by by commission. So this new one - a Suzette - will be the second in my Halloween series of dolls.

Today I got a late start. Had a sort of rude email so I let myself get all in a tither over it. Roxy said I was being a little over dramatic so I calmed down. Why is it that one little email that is rude can upset you so easily. Geez...

Now I am going to work on my vampire but here are the latest dolls I have done.

Nymeria - a Lana Lang repaint.
Rawnie - an Antoinette
